BREAK IN. Please be aware that over the past 2 weeks, ground floor flats in both Dicksonfield and Allanfield have suffered from either break-in's or attempted break in's. May we suggest to all owners, especially of ground floor flats that you install additional security window and door locks and possibly an alarm. If you are not an owner, ask your letting agent. Please also check that your personal contents are fully insured.

Dicksonfield is a quiet, landscaped development of some 120 apartments contained within 14 Blocks situated just off Leith Walk, midway between the east end of Princes Street and the heart of Leith.

The Dicksonfield Owners and Residents Association was formed in 2002, shortly after the development was completed to enable neighbours to meet socially and to discuss matters of concern. During our early days we liaised with the developer regarding the inevitable problems with any new development. Since then amongst our many achievements, we have arranged a recycling facility ahead of City Council requirements, added additional landscaping, provided security consultations and joined with Allanfield Neighbourhood Watch. Residents parking has been set up ahead of the City scheme arriving in Brunswick Road, Vermin Control necessary in any inner city area and refuse bin/store washing on a 3 monthly basis. We have also, following a careful study of the missives of ownership made sure that all owners and residents comply with this important and legally binding document relating to ownership and flat letting.

The Association has a well established friendly relationship with our Managing Agents James Gibb, as it does with Tesco, Vittoria's Restaurant, Eatalia's, Fair Trade Coffee Shop, Magnet, McDonald Road Library, Croal Newsagents, Borlands (TV), Polski Smak and Glam Nail Bar all of which are on Leith Walk but as our neighbours, are an important part of the Dicksonfield village.

Recycling

We have our own Recycling facility situated beside Block 11. There are bins for Mixed Glass, Paper, Plastic, Tin Cans etc. Please read carefully what can be put in each bin as mixing the contents defeats the object.

Please do not overfill any refuse bins as this will encourage the vermin problem that all cities suffer. We have a system in place to poison vermin but open bins will not help the system. We have more then enough bins available on site so if your nearest one is full please use another.

Satellite Dishes

Please be aware that the installation of Satellite Dishes is against the Burdens section of the missives of ownership of all flats within Dicksonfield. In addition Satellite Dishes require planning permission from Edinburgh City Council. The Owners & Residents Association and our Managing Agents will take action against anyone who has or does install a Satellite Dish be they owners or tenants.
